March 2025 change log

Major flespi improvements in March 2025.

In March 2025, flespi monthly uptime once again reached the highest 100% mark.

We started the month with flespi analytics updates focused on aggregated data extraction from messages and intervals. Now, a wider range of telematics projects can be implemented with just a few clicks – from tracking BLE beacons in the vicinity to complex HoS compliance monitoring. The HoS example is particularly relevant as it enables all calculations to follow official regulations within the middleware and provides HoS statistics, such as available driver hours, directly as a device message parameter. This makes it possible to configure HoS calculations for any telematics system using flespi as a telematics data gateway.

For tachograph solutions built on flespi, we are currently rolling out one of the most requested features – automatic tacho file retrieval from the tachograph at scheduled intervals. Once this feature is enabled in the device configuration, flespi will automatically retrieve .ddd files from the tachograph and store them in the device’s media storage. This functionality will work seamlessly across all supported protocols.

Our further plans for tachography are to support tacho functionality for the fourth manufacturer – Xirgo Global, test and adopt the Tacho Bridge Application for use with tacho card hotels, and enable its remote diagnostics and configuration as part of this adoption – directly via the flespi app device settings UI.

For video telematics, we are working in the opposite direction – towards a controlled opt-out from automatic media downloads when a corresponding event is reported by the device. Initially, this automation was embedded in protocols, but some users have requested more precise control over this process.

Step by step, we are rolling out our new assets system. The first stage – the assets REST API – has already been released in experimental mode. The next step is integrating assets into calculators, which is currently in development and expected to be deployed later this month. Assets in flespi are designed as a key component for trailers, drivers, and rider management systems, where assets are temporarily linked to a device. Their full potential will be unlocked once flespi analytics is enhanced to incorporate them.

We have already updated the pricing and restrictions documents to include assets. The pricing structure for assets is similar to that for devices – 1,000 assets are included, and every additional 100 assets cost €2.

Codi, our AI assistant, available under the chat button in the top-right corner of your flespi.io account, has also received new information retrieval tools, improving its support capabilities. Currently, codi handles more than 80% of support interactions, and in the remaining 20%, it assists in diagnosing issues and generating responses in approximately half to three-quarters of cases. Only 5–10% of support interactions involve direct communication with the team or discussions of specific development tasks. See below how it fights with humans for its right to assist in flespi chat:

Or from another perspective – the communication load on humans has constantly decreased since we launched codi:

And finally, we opened registrations to the "Telematics & Connected Mobility 2025" conference. There will be 2 tracks – one for business and another for the technology in telematics. As you know, flespi is all about the technology, so I will focus primarily on the second track, though the business track is equally important. Our intention is to fill the technical track with the following major topics:

  • Honest retrospectives on platform development and scaling

  • Telematics Meets AI: Integration Strategies

  • Bridging OEM and Aftermarket Systems

  • BLE Applications in modern telematics

  • Video Telematics: Multi-vendor strategies and AI analytics

  • Tachograph Integration: Technical Challenges & Solutions

It won’t be just a flespi or Gurtam event. Nope, we plan to bring together all the leading telematics suppliers, including the most popular and well-known fleet management platforms.

This conference will definitely be useful for any flespi user, and we suggest registering in advance, especially since a limited number of promo codes for flespi commercial users are still available.
