FAQ What is flespi? flespi is a middleware between GPS trackers and IoT devices, and software applications used to analyze and make decisions based on these data. With flespi you don’t need to worry about compatibility - regardless of the device manufacturer and communication protocol your data will converge into an ERP, CMS or any other business software. Why is flespi better than the competitors? flespi is far ahead of the competition in unifying two-way communication of devices by multiple manufacturers with applications of all sorts. To date there are no known solutions of scale and scope comparable to flespi. Can I use flespi on a dedicated server? This greatly depends on the scale of the system you are planning to deploy, but you can start for free. flespi costs nothing to you while you stay within our generous restrictions. What applications can work with flespi? Any software capable of sending REST requests, subscribing to an MQTT topic or having a compatible stream will easily find the common language with flespi. When do I need to create flespi devices? Creating a channel is enough to get messages from the tracking devices into the flespi platform. If you need messages grouped by device, telematics data storage or remote device management capabilities, you will need to create flespi devices which will serve as virtual representation of the physical trackers. We are continuously working on adding the most used and demanded devices to the platform. Is there a limitation on the number of devices that can communicate with flespi? No. As long as our cloud datacenter can manage the volumes of data from your devices, you have nothing to worry about. Is there a limitation on the number of devices per channel? Yes. With free account you can have up to 5 active simultaneous connections (devices) per channel. With commercial account the limit extends to 200 000 devices per channel. Do I need to be technically-savvy to start using flespi? The slogan “from developers to developers” implies a certain level of technical literacy. Understanding of REST API technology and solid knowledge of any programming language will make deployment of flespi-enabled infrastructure an enjoyable experience.
