2024 season recap: micromobility at a glance

Some models lead our platform in connections. Here’s why they stand out.

The micromobility market is experiencing unprecedented growth and innovation, driven by a surge in urban transportation needs and advancements in technology. As we move through 2024 and look towards 2025, the industry is set to redefine how we navigate our cities. Recent reports forecast that the global micromobility market will reach a staggering $80 billion by 2025, reflecting an annual growth rate of over 20% .

You might notice a growing number of sharing services in your neighborhood. For example, Warsaw hosts around 10,000 shared e-scooters and bikes. Berlin stands out with over 15,000 e-scooters and e-bikes available for sharing. Notably, cities like Paris lead in e-scooter density, with more than 50 e-scooters per 1,000 residents. Yet, as major cities start to ban or limit the number of scooters, micromobility is expanding into smaller towns where the focus on sustainability and short distances drives the need for such a simple way of getting around.

In this post, we’ll explore some of the most popular models on the flespi platform connected active.

Teltonika

The TFT100 is a GPS tracker designed for monitoring and managing e-forklifts, e-mopeds, and e-scooters. Its alternative, the TST100, is primarily aimed at shared mobility solutions like scooter-sharing, which limits its market use. While it’s more specialized and might come at a slightly higher cost due to its features, the TFT100 is known for its lower power consumption, making it easier to integrate into various e-scooter brands and models. The better price-to-feature ratio of the TFT100 likely gives it an edge in connections over the TST100 in our rating.

Okai

You might have noticed a slight change in indexes. The Okai ES400 is a flagship model widely recognized for its durability and reliability in the shared micromobility sector. With its robust design, 10-inch tires, and long-lasting battery, it’s a go-to choice for fleet operators in dense urban environments.

The ES400A takes this core design and adds a few enhancements like a swappable battery, improved shock absorption, and an upgraded braking system, making it better suited for cities with rougher terrain or more demanding riders.

The ES400B, while still similar in design, is geared more toward cost efficiency with slightly fewer premium features but an external battery to swap, and a reduced overall price, making it attractive for companies focused on maximizing ROI. All three models maintain Okai’s signature build quality and adaptability, ensuring they remain competitive in different segments of the micromobility market but the stats show ES400A is leading in numbers.

Jimi IoT (Concox)

The Jimi IoT BL10 tracker is popular in the micromobility market mainly due to its compact, "horseshoe" form factor that perfectly fits shared bicycles. This versatile design is easy to mount and conceal, providing a discreet but reliable tracking solution. The BL10 stands out for its cost-effectiveness combined with essential features like GPS positioning, geo-fencing, and real-time tracking. Additionally, it offers decent battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, and IP65 waterproofing, making it highly durable in urban conditions.

The Jimi IoT EG02 is a smart e-bike GPS tracker and alarm system that offers keyless power switching via app or SMS, external siren support, auto wheel lock, multiple alarms (vibration, overspeed, power off, geo-fence), anti-theft protection, and e-bike battery voltage detection. It also supports a wide voltage range (9-90V) and has a built-in 270 mAh Li-Pol battery. The EG02 stands out for its reliability in anti-theft scenarios, making it a go-to solution in markets where bike theft rates are high.

The Jimi IoT ET25 is a compact and lightweight GPS tracker designed specifically for e-bikes. It features real-time tracking, intelligent anti-theft alarms, geo-fencing, and a 580 mAh battery that supports extended standby. The device also offers low power consumption, IP65 waterproofing, and a hidden installation design that enhances security. Its small form factor and affordable pricing make it popular for personal use and large-scale fleet deployments in micromobility. The ET25’s mix of reliable tracking, cool anti-theft features, and cost-effectiveness has positioned it well in both urban and suburban markets where e-bike usage is growing.

Omni

The Omni YXZ-855P is a high-performance aluminum scooter designed for enthusiasts who seek superior speed and durability. This model stands out for its powerful motor and long-range battery. Moreover, this model delivers impressive speed and acceleration. It features an advanced suspension system and a sturdy frame, making it suitable for various terrains and ensuring a smooth ride, and a triple brake system (e-brake + disc brake + foot brake). YXZ-855P is positioned as a premium option within Omni’s lineup, the model appeals to riders who prioritize high performance and advanced features.

The Omni OT303BL offers a more budget-friendly alternative, you can say, it’s designed for those who need a practical and cost-effective scooter. It comes with a decent battery life and motor performance suitable for daily use. It includes a simple yet effective suspension system and a solid build good enough for everyday commuting. The OT303BL offers satisfactory speed and range, making it ideal for casual riders and those new to e-scooters. I  bet, it's an entry-to-mid-level model if you’re seeking value/price balance.

Voi

Voi—the leading micromobility operator in Europe with 7+ million riders, announced that it has recently successfully raised $25 million in an oversubscribed financing round. The Voiager 1 was their first-generation scooter, which launched with basic features like GPS tracking and a sturdy design focused on urban mobility. Fast forward to the Voiager 7, the latest model showcases significant upgrades in both technology and sustainability. In fact, Voyager 1 still stands as a symbol of durability and resilience.

Surely, this isn't the full list—you can explore other models integrated under the 'micromobility' and 'scooter' tags in our catalog. Stay tuned for new models being added!
